Dr. Zajac is a professor in the Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care at the Adams School of Dentistry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a  Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. He received his undergraduate (psychology), master’s (Speech Pathology and Audiology), and PhD degrees (Communication Disorders) from the University of Pittsburgh. For the past 27 years, he has been both a clinical speech-language pathologist and speech scientist at the UNC Craniofacial Center.

Dr. Zajac specializes in speech production of individuals with cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial anomalies. He has authored over 55 peer-reviewed articles, 13 book chapters, and two textbooks. His research on cleft palate speech and other disorders has been regularly funded by NIH since 1993.
